Well, the Muslim Ramadan thingie last night was better than I had expected! It turned out that they had changed location from the ballroom to the mosque, so I got to go! Had to wait a little while for a ride though. Also, you have to take off your shoes when you go into the mosque, and I hadn't been wearing any socks because I thought it would be in the ballroom... ^_^;; When we got there, the Muslims went up to pray, and myself and a bunch of other people went up to watch (we were invited to, so we weren't intruding). It was actually very interesting! For the most part, I didn't feel uncomfortable there at all, except when there were some awkward silences... I'm not the most talkative person around strangers. ¬_¬; Well, we got back from the mosque around 7:30pm, and I had to work last night/this morning from 8pm until 4am. So, I ran over to Rosies (the 24hr cafe) and got a pint of B&J since I was still hungry. Absolutely nothing happened at work. In my entire 8 hour shift, only one person locked themselves out of their room, two people picked up packages, and I forwarded all the mail before it was midnight! Speaking of... I should probably get ready to go to work now, since I have to deliver mail before my shift starts at 4pm.
Oh, and thankies to y'all who've visited my site! *^_^*
It couldn't be helped. I'm sitting in the computer lab because for whatever reason I am nervous about going to the Ramadan thingie, and no one is there yet, anyhow. So, this is Kent State University:
------------ comment?
As per tradition in the blogging world, I shall now perfom my first ritualistic Friday Five! Bound to boring with this week's questions though. Apologies in advance!
As for last night/this morning... it was good! As usual, I felt a little uncomfortable at being one of the only white people at a "black" function, especially when they started talking about "the Man"... but it was all good. Then I went to work, and I sank into the ground walking across the field in my 3-inch heels. Don't do that.
I don't have much to say right now... I'm kind of out of it still since I worked until 4am, and I am fasting today in support of the Muslim Student Association here at KSU. They're having a cultural celebration/meal for Ramadan in the ballroom tonight, so I'm going! ^__^;;
GYAAAA~!! How annoying! ¬_¬# I woke up a half an hour early this morning in order to blog (and get some breakfast) before I went to work, and then, just as I finished typing out my entry... internet goes *kaput*. No worky. So, I have to type again, but I don't remember exactly what I said... meh. Well, right now I should be in my Spanish Reading & Conversation class, but I've decided to skip that and my Japanese class today because... tonight is the Renaissance Ball! I have to get ready, after all... and I am always looking for an excuse to not go to that Spanish class. Don't get me wrong, I like Spanish and I want to do well academically, but the way that class is taught makes me want to go bang my head repeatedly against a brick wall. HARD. We have to read all these stupid lecturas and then remember obscure facts from them for the tests... I can't even do that in English, which is my first language for crying out loud!! And then we have to play stupid little games, and everything is "group work"... *dies* Anyhow, the Renaissance Ball is tonight, which is free and sponsored by the on-campus organization BUS (Black United Students). S.A.L.S.A. was invited, so naturally I am going. And then at the end of my Multicultural Psychology class today I was talking to Latoya and Laura and they are going, so now I really have to! And since I didn't leave myself enough time to shower between sleeping and having to be at work, I still have to do that... I don't know if my dress will fit me, and I don't have a strapless bra.
Well, enough ramblings for the moment. If I skipped class for this, I should probably actually get around to doing it, ne?
First blog entry! Wai~!!
Seeing as this is primarily introduction/testing to see if this shit works, I'll tell you more about myself. I am a sophomore Spanish major/Japanese minor at Kent State University. I am very involved on campus... I am on the executive board for both S.A.L.S.A. (the Spanish and Latino Student Association) and the Anime Club here, as well as a kung fu student. In short, I never have any free time because I also have a full load of classes and a job here on campus! This is why I've decided to keep a blog... I need somewhere safe to rant and I feel that this might indeed be the best place.
Well, I'll leave you with that for the moment. Seeing as I'm just starting this blog tonight, there probably won't be anyone here to visit and read what I've just wrote, so I suppose I have time to find a tag board and sign up at those blogger-rings then, ne? ^_~;;
